I think Chris should consider taking some jail time instead of the 6months hard labor crap. If he goes in to jail in Cali he will only do around 2 months because of overcrowding and he’ll be finished as opposed to spending 6 months scrapping gum off sidewalks all day. The jail time will also help reduce his probation time. I know going to jail sucks, but in the long run he’ll come out better. He is man enough to take it I think. If TI can do a year in Federal prison, Chris can do a couple months in jail. Just something to consider.

don’t know how I feel about this situation, probabation for 5 years sounds tedious, and I think can be compared to jail time in a sense, because, you do have to be very careful, not to violate the terms of the probation.

I am sure that R provoked Chris, and I don’t get why she would want to revoke the stay away order, just so she can try to get close to him again and aggravate him to hit her once more. When a situation gets that bad between two people, I truly think it is time for both parties to move on. She’s definitely on some ‘fatal attraction type issh, to still want to be able to get close to Chris.

She needs to pull herself together and realize that she needs her space to grow up and she also needs to learn that her relationship w/Chris was too volatile to begin with and she had just as much to do with that as he did as well. Accept now he’s being punished for it, and she is not. I’ve just lost all taste and respect for Rhianna. She did not handle this situation with any class at all. All she did was parade around like a lost black girl when she should have been humble, and reflective about the implications of something like this happening to her, as she is in a very influential role.

First I’d like to start off by saying that this is a long post, and being that I’m a fan of both parties, I hope that the media scrutiny will cease from this point on. I talked to my dad about this case (he’s a lawyer…and so is my uncle & 3 of my cousins, and soon I’ll adding my name to that list!), and he along with all of the other lawyers in my family think that his sentence was harsh.

Usually in this type of situation (assault with no prior record) the defendant would be charged with misdemeanors, receive 1-2 years probation max, and be required to pay fines, complete community service and enroll in some type of anger management class. Also, if the victim had not requested a stay away order one would not be issued “just because”. However it is unfortunate that in real dv cases, women who are clearly terrified of their spouse are denied restraining orders, and then found dead a few months later — but that’s an entirely different topic. So for those of you who say he got a slap on the wrist and feel that justice has not been served, I am sorry to inform you that you are wrong. Even the legal commentators on CNN were saying that receiving probation for a first offense was normal, but 5 years is definitely excessive and it is clear that they are trying to make an example out of him.

However, there is a bright side to this! As we all know, if CB were to violate his probation in any way at all (ie. comm. w/ Rihanna, failure to make his mandated court appearances, etc.) he will be sent to prison for 4 years. I know that given his prior non-existent criminal record he will more than likely go above and beyond to comply with all the regulations of his probation and he could have it reduced due to good behavior. It’s almost a given that the stay away will be dropped in August, so he will have one less thing to worry about in regard to violating his probation. Also once his probationary period is up he will be able to have his voting rights restored — it’s so important that voting rights and felonies be cleared up within the black community, because there are several people out there that have felonies on their records that are able to vote and have no idea. Also, it is possible that he can have the felony charge dropped to a misdemeanor over some period of time, so hopefully these are all options that he will discuss with his Geragos.

Some people have been saying “well, why did he plead guilty? why did he take this plea? he must be guilty then.” This is not always the case. As we know he plead ‘not guilty’ earlier this year and we’ll never know the exact details of what happened or who did what, but the reason why he took the plea was simply because that was as good as it was going to get. The next step would have been to go to trial, and it would have been a huge risk to not take this deal of guilty/no jail time. If he did not take the plea the only other option that he had was to go to trial and get his side of the story out, plus some personal details that he and Rihanna don’t want the entire world to know and end up running the risk of getting sentenced to 1 or 2 years in prison when it is all said and done.

So this is a legal synopsis from an unbiased standpoint (my dad). I really hope that both CB and Rihanna take the rest of the week off to just relax, because they’ve definitely been put through the wringer these past few months!
