On Friday, November 13, Best Buddies Texas participants had the opportunity to spend the afternoon with singer-songwriter and multi-platinum artist Chris Brown!

Participants with disabilities from Bellaire High School, Lee High School, North Shore High School and Westside High School participated in the special event made possible by a generous donation by Lucky Strike, Houston.

Chris Brown made the dreams come true for more than 30 of our participants as he bowled, signed autographs and took photographs with the Buddies before his Houston concert.

The Buddies, with their Chris Brown memorabilia in hand, raced up to Brown as he entered the room. Everyone wanted to show off their dance moves and get their picture taken with the famous musician.

Parent Delphine Sally said “I was amazed how Chris reached out to the children with special needs. This is a lifetime experience that they will never forget!”

Chris Brown surprised the Buddies with VIP tickets to his concert at the House of Blues. These Best Buddies participants had never attended a concert and were not prepared for what was awaiting them.

After being walked in early to a special VIP section, the Buddies were presented with gift bags filled with Chris Brown merchandise.

The concert began and our participants danced and sang along to every song. Throughout the concert, a text campaign was announced with all the proceeds benefiting Best Buddies.

At the end of the concert, Chris gave a shout out to the Buddies lighting up their faces and brining one participant to tears. As Amir, a Buddy from Lee High School left the concert holding his shoes because he had dance so much all he could say over and over was “Chris Brown is the man!”

Best Buddies Texas was moved by the willingness of Chris Brown and Lucky Strike to make the dreams come true for so many of our participants with intellectual disabilities!
